Highlights

Day 1: Hanoi – Tra Linh

Our guide will meet you at your hotel at 7:30 am. After a warm greeting and a brief overview of the trip, we’ll embark on a private vehicle journey to Cao Bang city, and then continue to Tra Linh district. The approximate travel time is 7 hours, but the roads are convenient and offer beautiful scenery, with short breaks along the way. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll arrive in Tra Linh in the afternoon and begin exploring the lush and serene surroundings. We’ll have the opportunity to visit Thang Hen Lake, where you can relax and even try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). We’ll spend the night in a local homestay.

Day 2: Tra Linh – Phong Nam

After breakfast, our vehicle will pick you up as we head towards the remote areas of the province along the border belt. Along the journey, you’ll have the chance to explore the stunning landscapes of Cao Bang and visit traditional villages of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups. We’ll find a scenic spot for a picnic lunch amidst nature, where you can immerse yourself in the surroundings, observe farming activities, and interact with locals. Today’s travel distance will be shorter, allowing us to engage in trekking and cycling activities around Phong Nam, an area known for its beautiful rice paddies, surrounding mountains, and flowing rivers. We’ll spend another night in a local homestay.

Day 3: Phong Nam – Dam Thuy

Get ready for another day of exploration and amazement as we venture deeper into the remote lands of Cao Bang province, bordering China. In the morning, we’ll embark on a long trek starting from our local homestay, passing through lush green valleys. On the other side of the village, we’ll join the vehicle and travel upstream along the Quay Son River, exploring picturesque countryside and rice paddies. After lunch, you’ll have two hours to enjoy the Quay Son River and engage in SUP activities. In the late afternoon, we’ll visit the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall, a three-tiered waterfall measuring 53 meters in height and 300 meters in width, situated on the Vietnam-China border. We’ll then check into a rustic homestay in the Rock Village, where ancient houses built by the Tay people stand. We’ll spend the night in the homestay.

Day 4: Dam Thuy – Hanoi

We’ll start the day by heading to Ha Lang, another district of Cao Bang province that shares three sides of its border with China. This land is characterized by high mountains, deep valleys, and magnificent caves, and has been home to the Tay and Nung ethnic groups, known for their rich culture and customs. We’ll embark on a trek to the grassland of Ha Lang, a unique terrain you won’t find elsewhere, offering panoramic views and fresh air. After spending time enjoying the scenery, we’ll continue the journey. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll make our way back to Hanoi, expecting to arrive at around 5 pm, marking the end of our journey.

This 4-day itinerary takes you on an immersive adventure through Tra Linh, Phong Nam, and Dam Thuy, allowing you to experience the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and local way of life in these remote regions of Cao Bang province
